Solent Week Cruise
May 2, 2025 - May 11, 2025
£5This trip promises to be full of interest with four stops over nine days around the Solent. This trip will suit both those new to cruising and the more experienced members that love to sail in company and help newer members enjoy more of their sailing.
First stop on our trip around the Solent is Beaulie Marina and River. Such a lovely place to stay with walks up the river to the picturesque village of Beaulie and the wonderful history of Bucklers Hard with it’s museum and heritage shipwrights school, or you can wander up the river in your dinghy to see the sights from a different angle.
Friday 2nd – Monday 5th May (3 nights).
Second stop Gosport Marina. This marina is set in a sheltered within Portsmouth Harbour just past Haslar marina. There is a regular ferry service across to Portsmouth where you can visit the famous Portsmouth Naval Dockyards with HMS Warrior, The Victory and the mary Rose are on display, along with the naval museum and various other naval ships. You also have the Gunwharf Quays shopping outlet for all the retail therapy you need.
Monday 5th – Wednesdayday 7th May (2 nights).
Third stop Shepards Wharf Marina in Cowes. There is just a short walk from the marina to the centre of Cowes with all its shops, restaurants, and nautical places of interests. There is a lovely walk along the foreshore past the Cowes gundeck with stunning views over the Solent. The marina has good facilities and an onsite, award winning, Basque Kitchen restaurant specialising exquisite cuisine from the Basque Region, well worth a visit.
Wednesday 7th – Friday 9th May (3 nights)
Last stop is Yarmouth Harbour. Yarmouth is the second smallest town in Great Britain, and from its lovely harbour to its ancient church and picturesque pier, this West Wight town has something for everyone.
There are plenty of things to do, some great pubs, cafes and restaurants, and lots of super attractions in the area, and great walks around the local area. Yarmouth is a very special place and many love to visit it.
We intend to leave Yarmouth on Monday 12th May and return to Poole.
